This is the life

Today we took the two kiddos out for a boat ride on the intercoastal in Rick's dad's boat. It was so fun!! It was a beautiful day, especially when the breeze hit us right! The funniest part of the day was definately poor little Brynnli in her too puffy lifevest. She looked like she was in a body cast, but she was such a good girl and such a great sport!
Even though she had just woken up from a nap, she passed back out, I think she figured, hey, I can't move, I might as well go to sleep. We definately didnt' have to worry about her rolling off...
Carson got a turn to help drive the boat, he was so excited! He was watching everything! Cruise ships, airplanes, cargo carriers, a pelican eating a fish, he LOVED it!

He got a little nervous at one point when we hit a few "big waves" but that was it.

Brynnli will have to grow into her sunglasses, as well as her lifevest

What cuties, we had so much fun with them!

I hadn't been on the boat since before Carson was born, it felt so good to get back out there!!

Thanks Grandpa and Grandma T. for a great relaxing day!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Rick and I have been married 6 years today, I can't believe it!! We went out to celebrate on Friday night and dropped the kiddos of at their grandparent's house.
We went to Texas de Brazil for dinner, it is one of those all you can eat meat places kind of like Rodizios in Provo, it was sooo yummy!! Rick considers it one of his greatest accomplishments in our marriage that he has gotten me to like meat so much since we've been married! When I married him I only ate chicken!!! Not the case anymore!!
After dinner we went to see the new Batman movie (highly romantic I know), which was good, but a little scary! What a fun time we had actually being able to talk to eachother without a baby crying or Carson saying, "mommy, daddy, watch this...." or something like that.

I am so thankful for Rick, he is my best friend, and he always makes me laugh, Happy Anniversary!!
Here's a few flashback pictures from the HOT (104, I believe) day six years ago......

I couldn't help but add this cute picture of our kids in the bath together last night, this was the first time we put them in together and it was so fun!

Fay, Fay, go away

Who is Fay you ask? Well, Fay was our first real storm of the hurricane season, forecast to be a possible hurricane when it hit us and everyone freaked out as usual, filling up with gas, water, and food. We followed along too, putting up half our hurricane shutters Sunday night, since of course, Rick was working yesterday when the storm was going to hit. So yesterday morning, everyone on the news was freaking out about the possible impact of the storm, so Carson and I braved the rain and wind and put up the rest of the shutters. Brynnli was sleeping soundly inside, and I really wish you could have seen us, my neighbors (none of whom had their shutters up at all) must have thought I was nuts!! Needless to say, all day yesterday Carson and I kept singing "Fay, Fay, go away" and she actually listened, the storm was a bust, we didn't even lose power, which I am happy about.

Monster Trucks

Rick and Carson went and did a little father son bonding this weekend at the Monster Truck Show Carson had a blast there and couldn't stop talking about it when he got home!

Rick got Carson a few monster trucks and he has been reenacting the show ever since, it is very cute and so fun that he is getting old enough to do fun stuff like that!
As usual, Brynnli and I went to the mall together, she is such a good little shopper, we were gone like three hours or something and she just hungout in the Bjorn happily.

Fun times

Happy Six months Brynnli!!
(five days late...)

My top six favorite things about Brynnli so far are:

1. She likes to play and talk to herself in her crib when she wakes up from naps!!! This adds a good half hour or so a day to my getting things done!

2. She takes long naps! Okay, keep in mind we are comparing to Carson who took 20 minute ones, but Brynnli's are usually at least an hour an a half, usually two of those and one forty minute one later in the day.

3. She has such a happy easy going temperament most of the time. She'll just kick it in my arms early in the morning or smile at us. Carson can pummel her and she just smiles most of the time.

4. She doesn't scream in the car! Unless she's way over due for eating, she is a gem in the car, playing with toys, looking in her mirror or at Carson, hallelujah!

5. She is a quick eater! She is still nursing and eats every three hours still, but only for about five minutes total, which is so helpful since I have a crazy toddler running around!!

6. She is a girl, which means I get to play dressup with her everyday, doing hair, etc. I love it! I can't wait until we can go shopping!!

And here are a few other pics of our happenings around here:

Carson and Jada at their friend Haylie's birthday party, lounging in the pool.

Rick's sister Trisha and her family have been here this week, we've been having tons of fun with them! Yesterday we hit up the beach and had a blast! Carson just can't get enough of the water and sand!
(not that you can tell by any of these pictures)

Brynnli for some reason has decided that she wants to crawl, so her favorite thing to do is get on her hands and knees and rock forward, PLEASE wait a few months Brynnli, PLEASE!!!!This is Brynnli's sun tent home at the beach, which she scooted out of backwards when she woke up! Crazy girl!
And of course, Carson and Brynnli's cousin Kaitlyn, who is super cute and so much fun!!
In true Tolbert fashion, this is our amazing family picture from the beach, neither kid is looking at the camera:) Hey, we tried.

Nothing much

We haven't really been up to anything super exciting other than just hanging out, which is kind of nice to do after a vacation. We started feeding Brynnli baby food and Carson has decided he likes being a baby too. He finished off her sweet potatoes and peas... so I'm thinking, hey this is a new way to get him to eat vegetables, like in that book by Jessica Seinfeld or whoever, I'll just throw baby food in his stuff... Brynni looks like she is drugs in this picture:)

He also decided that he likes to act like a baby with her in her crib after naps.....
But sometimes he has to act grownup.... I mean, you can't wear just anything to go watch airplanes at the park! I almost died laughing this day. I went into Brynnli's room to get her dressed to leave the house and told Carson to get his shoes on. He came out of my closet dressed like this:) I said okay, take off the hat and change your shoes, etc. which he refused to do, so I thought, hey we're just going to the park, let him wear it. So he did, he walked out of our house in it (I was praying none of our neighbors would be outside to see him wearing women's shoes and a pink purse) and all the way to the park.
And Brynnli started sitting up for real this week! She's still a little wobbly at times (hence the fortress), but it is very cute! Just funny since at this age Carson was basically already crawling! I have been crossing my fingers for a more layback baby this time!!
Right after I took this picture she nose dived into the bus, ouch!!
