Tiny Dancer

This is our little dancer.  She had her first dance recital this weekend.  She was too cute.  Rick and I were both so proud of her for not being terrified to dance in front of a huge audience.  Both of us agreed we wouldn't do it.  She loved getting all dolled up.

Rick took her to her dress rehearsal.  After she practiced her dance she asked if she could stay and watch the "big girls" do their dances.

Brynnli was super stoked that she got to wear makeup to the recital.  I loved doing this with her.

The recital was also Brielle's first outing.  We mostly kept her outside or in the lobby to avoid germs, other than the five minutes BRynnli danced, but she was a good girl!

I love how girly Brynnli is.  I was never a dancer and I know nothing about dance in general, but I love that she loves it.

Brielle Laurelei Tolbert

She's finally here!! My due date was May 13th, and I finally started having contractions around 7 the night of the 14th.  They weren't too terrible at first, but then around 1a.m. they got pretty intense....and I hungon until around 4 when I gave in and told Rick to call his parents.  I really didn't want to wake them up.  We got to the hospital,  and I realized I had probably waited too long when I asked the nurse for my happy drugs and she looked at me sideways and said, "honey, I hope you have enough time."I thought for half a second about trying to do it without the drugs, but came to my senses quickly.  Luckily, what seemed like forever later, I got my epidural (even though RIck BARELY made it through that).  Miss Brielle came out at 8:52 after half a push.  Rick got to bring her out, and there she was!
7 Lbs 4 oz 18 1/2 inches, our smallest baby!!

At this point, Rick and I breathed a sigh of relief, the hard part was over (or so we thought) and we could enjoy our sweet baby.  Not so much.  About half hour after BRielle was born the nurses were concerned because I was bleeding pretty badly and they couldn't figure out how to stop it.  I have honestly never been so afraid in my life than I was that day. They shot me with so many drugs to try and stop the bleeding I could barely keep from passing out.  I felt like it was taking FOREVER for my doctor to get there, and once he did he knew exactly what the problem was and how to fix it.  I won't get into the details here, but basically my options were to have a DNC and go down to the O.R., or to have him give me the same procedure minus the drugs (my epidural had conveniently fallen out accidentally so they couldn't give me any more pain meds)right there, right then.  So, he said "this will hurt like hell" and pretty much reached in and tore out my insides with his bare hands.  However, it stopped the bleeding, and all was well once again:)

Brynnli and Brielle, can you say it five times fast?
 Carson and Brielle
Cole was so excited when we came home with Brielle, he started bringing out all his treasures to share with her.  It was one of the sweetest things I've ever seen.  He was just running back and forth in and out of his room for half an hour.  Such a sweet little boy.

Grandpa and Brielle

Getting ready to leave the hospital.....finally.  They wouldn't let us leave until Miss Brielle had a poop.  It had been 36 hours since her last one and it's hospital policy.  So we sat around ALL day waiting for her to work it out.  Finally, around five, the nurse "helped" her out and we got to go home.  Hallelujah.

Notice I forgot my shoes? Cole is the sweetest boy as I mentioned earlier, but he's got a little Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde thing going on.  We alternate between this..... and this.  Brielle will have to be a tough girl.

Every time I have a baby, I always wonder how I"ll have enough love for another one.  We feel so blessed to have this little sweetie in our family.  Let the circus begin!!!!
