You gotta love summertime

Excuse Brynnli, apparently she had her hat over her face for the picture, oops!!

I just love summertime! Let me rephrase this, I just love the things that come along with summertime like swimming (my favorite thing), eating fresh fruit, and being tan! Plus vacation, etc. Since as I mentioned before, the only thing we can do here during the summer pretty much is swim, that's what we do. So here's the kids hitting up the pool! Brynnli is mostly a spectator, since she can't be in direct sun that much yet, but she loves the water and loves watching her crazy brother!

We have been trying to teach Carson that he can "swim" by himself with floaties or a tube, but he's still kinda scared, he'd rather eat snacks and juice at Grandma's. Aren't they cute

Lately at dinner, while we're eating we put Brynnli in the Bumbo so she feels included, but she just sits there and drools and watches every bite we eat, so we decided, even though we're not giving her cereal or baby food yet (maybe in a couple weeks) we would give her some watermelon to munch on (it is in a little mesh thingy so she can't get out the chunks). She loves it!!

We can't be outside all the time though, it's too hot, so today while Rick worked Carson, Brynnli and I watched "Polar Express", Carson's favorite movie right now, on the beanbag and ate popcorn (well Brynnli didn't, she just drooled). It was really fun. I promise we really don't watch movies that much, that is why it is so fun when we do. Carson's favorite thing to do right now is to pretend he drives a train going to see Santa and he walks around saying "tickets please" and telling me we have a train driving through our living room and that I am Santa. I love the imagination!!!

What a crazy night

So we had our friends the Wernlis over last night for dinner and the craziest things kept happening!! This is actually not a picture I took last night, it was on Monday of the two kids eating lunch together during a thunderstorm, they were so cute!!
So the weirdness all began when we put the kids to bed and Chris was making a dessert for us, brownies with carmelized sweetened condensed milk on top, the only problem was.... you have to cook the milk in the oven and I guess ours cooked a little too long, poor Chris went to open the can and it exploded all over our kitchen, it sounded like a firework!! We all spent twenty minutes or so wiping down the house!! The brownies were delicious though, maybe I will post the recipe another day.

So then we started playing Settlers of Catan and we hear Jada, who we thought was asleep in the pack n play in our room, yelling for her mom, and Kim comes running out of our room laughing hysterically and tells me to get my camera........

Here is what she found..........

Jada had pulled open my underwear drawer and was wearing about four pairs of my underwear, Kim said when she went in there (the lights were off) Jada said "mommy, I can't get my underwear off.." It was too funny, and I can't believe I am posting a blog with my underwear on it. Oh my.

The rest of the night was just full of random other weird things, our ice maker dropping ice cubes randomly, Chris almost winning all three games we played........ what fun.

Thanks Wernlis, we had a blast!!!

Happy Belated Fathers Day

So I am just now posting these pictures because we had such a nice day!! Rick opened presents (Carson mostly opened them for him, he was especially excited about the treats!) My little (and big) firefighters in Carson's bed
After church Carson came out wearing Rick's socks, shoes and tie, it was very funny he kept pointing to himself and saying "me, dada"
ME and Brynnli

We are so thankful for Rick and what an amazing dad he is, my kids love him and I am so lucky to have him!!

Our Week

We haven't had much to post about lately, but we actually had a fun filled day today to report.

Rick and some of the guys in our ward have started doing triathalons. So this meant that at seven a.m. this morning me and the two kids were out watching Rick and his friends swim, bike, and run. Rick did a great job!!

This swim was the only part I really got any pics of, by the other two events my hands were full with the kids, but Rick finished first on the swim and got the best time on the run.....
The bike part was a struggle, apparently because he needs a "road bike" I am told. The mountain bike was not making the cut, Rick said he was peddling like crazy while all the guys on road bikes rode by barely moving their legs:) We will have to work on that for next time, who knows maybe I will do it too?

After the triathalon and naps for the kids we were off to Delray Beach north of us to see Rick's three best friends from high school. One of their parent's (Jonathan's) have a gorgeous house on the beach, we love visiting them!

We took the kids down to the beach for a few minutes, Carson had a blast getting hit by waves, while Brynnli passed out on my shoulder. Maybe we will buy a "beach house" as Carson calls it, someday.....
After the beach we got to hangout with our favorite friends the Wernlis and play our new favorite game "settlers of Catan". It was even better since our two kids actually went to sleep over there without too much fuss!! What a fun day!!

In other news, Rick finished his first year with Miami Dade Fire Rescue and got an official black helmet instead of the yellow helmet that is for "probationary employees." This is a fancy way of saying that now my husband is allowed to take naps and get paid for it. Hallelujah!!

Naturally, Carson needed to try on the helmet while going on a call in his fire truck bed. This is one of his favorite things to do lately.
And Rick and I dropped the munchkins off at Gma and Gpa's so that we could go out to celebrate!! We had a great time going to dinner and walking around the mall kidless!! Thank you Tolberts!!
The rest of our week was spent swimming, with Brynnli covered head to toe in hand me down SPF wear from Carson since she can't wear sunscreen yet.....
It was raining one afternoon so we decided to watch a family movie "Shrek". The kids were both hypnotized by the movie, especially Brynnli. Carson lasted his usual 20 minutes and was off to play.
We have started the preliminary potting training, which means I spent my week cleaning up pee off of our tile floor, sitting in the bathroom, and buying cookies and underpants at the store. Carson likes to check himself out in his new Cars underwear. We decided it was time to train him since he has now decided he needs his diaper changed EVERY time he pees in it. We don't have enough money to buy that many diapers, so wish us luck!! Any advice is welcomed!!!

Summer is here

Since it is too hot to do anything else, we have been enjoying the sun and swimming like crazy!

This weekend we hit up the beach, which was really fun!!!
Me and Brynnli tried to stay sun free under the HUGE beach umbrella while Rick and Carson tried to build a sand hole....

Brynnli slept long enough for me to get a little sun and help with the sand hole

Brynnli got to put her feet in the water for the first time, she loved it!!
And our favorite part of the day, a quiet ride home from the beach, apparently we wore both kids out!!

We also took Brynnli in our pool in the backyard this weekend, she really liked that too, as long as Carson and Rick weren't splashing her!!!!
